60 Year Legacy

In 1949, founder Mike Martin, a man with a passion for helping teenagers from broken homes, looked at the tattered Firlands Tuberculosis Sanatorium and saw endless possibilities of what God could do.  The city of Seattle leased the site with the condition that Mike would establish a “rest home” for seniors on the same campus. Thus, in 1950, CRISTA Senior Ministries was formally established for 20 residents.  As the ministry continued to expand, CRISTA Senior Living opened the first Assisted Living community in the Seattle area. Today, CRISTA Senior Living is an accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with more than 700 senior residents in two beautiful Northwest locations.

The impact of CRISTA extends from its home neighborhood of Shoreline, Washington, to the world.
